I just got back from a lengthy fight with my local and state DMV offices to convince them I'm legal to continue having a drivers license. I'm EB, in the adjustment of status stage since July 2007. DMV asked me recently for proof for status check. I took the pending I-485 receipt and while they told me it is an acceptable proof, they said they have a rule that if the document has no expiration date, they can only give you a driver license with validity 6 months beyond the receipt date of your document (with the wild assumption that any I-485 application is approved or denied within 6 months)
I have nothing against local government and their agencies enforcing immigration, but if you won't give your staff the necessary training to comprehend what legal immigration status is then it will be a disaster

From their tone, I can tell the were trying hard to be helpful.
But, no receipt for me yet. July 2nd filer here as well.
Should I keep another set of 485 application ready, just in case if I don't hear about check cashing or receipt till august 15th ?
Is there any harm in filing the 485 again (just to be safe).... IF I don't get any indication of action on july2nd app ?

This is not an accredited university. It has SEVIS permission though.
Great news. What will be greater is that not only these "students", but the people who employ them, the people who run the "university", the ones who gave accreditation to this "university" should be all loaded in a ship and dropped-off on a hitherto uninhabited island in the south pacific, with a live stream of their life made available post drop-off.
They can all happily screw each other on the island.
BTW, let one of the right wing radio shows get a hold of this news, we will not hear the end of this. The next logical step will be Steve King professing an end to F1 visas.

India was demanding latest fighter jets (F-22) but US can offer only old version F-16,F-18 to India. Basic reason for US denial to latest technology because of India -US relation and their status .US only offers new technology to its close allys. I think it was prudent move from India’s part to get latest and greatest technology. To get these new technologies US congress needs to pass law and define India as close ally.

We just received news that the Judiciary Committee hearings which were supposed to run until 1.00 pm today and also tomorrow have been postponed to March 27th. Apparently the deal is that the Judiciary Committee wants to put pressure on Senator Frist so that he does not introduce his version of the bill bypassing the committee...

I - 485 is your application. Employer has control of your application until I - 140. All you need from employer is employment verification letter.
If you have a good lawyer, then you can do it together. Take legal advice. This is just my opinion.

Thats great! Sorry I have been down with Flu and that why could not reply to your earlier questions about LUD on 10/1. I have not received any LUDs since 9/29. Hopefuly I will see some action in next week or so.

I would like to know How to file a complaint about labor fraud? I just found out that my employer didn't file 485 for me and instead he used the labor for someone else. Is there anyway I can file a complaint? I have no other option except to wait until the dates are current again. I paid all the expenses for labor, 140 and 485.
I don't think I can truly understand how frustrated and angry you must be and I really hope there is a legal avenue by which you could atleast get some kind of monetary reward. I hope you could take this employer through the DOL fraud dept and cause him to really pay for this.
One of the side benefits of the end of labor substitutions is that unscrupulous employers like your desi employer will not be able to sell a labor to the highest bidder or give it away to a new hire as a 'sign on' bonus. Either the original candidate gets it or goes to waste. Though it seems a little tough, it more than makes up by preventing such stories as yours in the future. Good luck

After waiting for a long time my date becomes current, but then i find out that i am stuck in namecheck for the past 3 years. Now they will fix namecheck and i will wait till the PD becomes current again :p
