Does anyone else find it really really really weird that Apple would announce it today and an airline that is mentioned is denying that a deal was even close to fruition? Someone got their lines crossed/translations screwy I think. Sheesh.:confused:

It's not like it's TiVo, you have to watch live, so you see commercials. But iPads are Neilson-compatible yet. :cool:

i really thinking of selling my ipad.. i mean for 90% of the time my 17" MBP gets the job done.. and for quick e-mail checks or when im out the house, my iphone is invaluable, the ipad is a nice idea but i would not use it in the house, and pointless carrying that and my ip4 around

I wonder if this increase is an accurate reflection of the market. PC sales always tend to drop off hugely in the run up to a new windows release.

Why not just add phone capabilities to the iPad? Call it the Mega-Pad? Or the Maxi-Pad?
Making more than one size phone for sale at the same time makes no sense. The only way that it would make sense is if the iPhone wasn't selling very well and Apple needed to 'pander to the masses' to build market share of they figured out a way to have a 'clam shell' design and maintain the operability of the interface.
The problem with multiple sizes is that the cases would be numerous and retailers wouldn't want to carry them and the chances that a very small iPhone would use the same accessories (chargers, etc) is small...
I think that Apple would be crazy to dilute their market by adding smaller and naturally less capable units. I already think that the new Nano will fail because it's 'sorta like a Touch, but not quite'.

they are about 10 degrees F cooler now at idleThat's good. One would conclude that they are now running slower and quieter at idle since they are not as hot at idle -- much better than the Power Mac G5.

Like a touchpad wouldn't it be possible for it to recognize what is a tap and what is just touching to the surface? i.e. it would only initiate a command based on a quick touch and release.

Thats a tough one...while a non-apple device will sell better with an airplay compatible badge, its hard to argue that the opposite will drive more sales of iPads. Sorry folks, pay the Apple.

I agree that it's a side street, but don't think it's Bryant. My CA office is just off Bryant, so I've walked it up and down and can't place it. The reflection is what suggests a side street to me.

Why do you guys assume Nvidia cannot make graphic cards for Sandy Bridge? Have you seen Dell's Alienware laptop line? They have the new processors and also are using Nvidia graphics card.

I ordered Pages as soon as it was announced, and it immediately replaced Word as my primary word processing program.
I'm not sure what many other posters are thinking, because Word is FAR from the best application on my mac, it's closer to the worst. It tends to crash on my when saving, or pasting, or moving text (and it's not my install, three different computers all do the same thing).
Now for Pages, yes it was a little hard to get used to. I was constantly looking for a quick way of changing font styles and sizes, same thing with margins and headers and footers. But then I realised that I was ALWAYS making the same couple of changes. So I set up a blank document with the margins and tracking / numbering settings that I commonly use. Then made 4 new text styles and saved the document as a template.
Now I'm using a template that has all of my settings and favorite fonts / sizes / spacing easily accessible through one click on a style button. And since I did that, I havn't gone looking for a setting (other than for some image manip). Basically, what I'm trying to get at is this; if you found Pages UI to be hard to work with, just create some new paragraph styles and a document template for margins / global settings.
As far as bloat goes..... yes Pages does tend to slow down when there are lots of images hanging around, BUT I can't say that the slowdown is any worse than opening the same document in Word.
Overall it was a worthwhile purchase, but I'm still looking forward to future upgrades

Again, those are majorities singling out a minority. You don't expect a group of hispanic men to jump a korean man if there's more korean's than hispanic's on the street corner. This is a typical out of touch cable company STILL trying to get people to pay for a channel line up that includes 90% of choices they'll never look at.
