Read question no. 13
MurthyDotCom : 485 FAQs (http://www.murthy.com/485faq.html#13)
This 6-month wait period after GC is the biggest myth esp among the desi community. I have never heard or seen any problem with citizen ship of anyone who switched job within 6 months of getting GC. If you have GC, you are as good as citizen except a few more rights that come with citizenship so enjoy your independence and work on your career !!

Our community needs to get this - We [through non-participation] are the problem, not others.
If folks had turned up in DC rally in 10,000-20,000, if equal number thousands had written letters to their Congressmen, if all of them had visited local offices, if hundreds of them had visited DC offices - we would have succeeded by now. Steve King or not.
We did nothing, except make those last minute calls. We gave the lawmakers suggestion for solution (pass HR xxxxx), without bothering to educate them what the problem is and how many are impacted. Results were there for everyone to see, Horses bill was put for discussion before ours, making it very easy for Mr. King to do his dirty work.
We shouldn't be complaining. I bet the horse lovers (animal rights activists) were more active and successful in educating the lawmakers than our community. Hence they got the precedence.
Point is there will be lawmakers like Rep King and Sen Sessions, who'll oppose any visa increase or recapture, rain or sunshine. There are also lawmakers who are sympathetic to us to balance them out. Our biggest hurdle is other lawmakers who don't have a stand on the issue. They are the majority and their vote can go either way. Our biggest hurdle is to reach out to these lawmakers, explain our problems and convince them that a sufficiently large number of their constituents are impacted.
If we succeed in doing that, our battle is won. No King or Sessions can stop us.
Good job on bringing this back to fire.
But one sad thing that Steve king of Iowa got reelected and he is ready to filibuster.

Effort in any form - physical, financial, mental or emotional is welcome and needed for this effort.
I am certain you can contribute in atleast one if not more than one of these ways.
This is OUR effort, we are not doing this for charity here .. we are doing this for our own selfish selves... so please participate.

Maybe he can come under asylum or refugee status; after all he also probably has two mother-in-laws there and that should qualify. One is bad enough, but TWO?
Its hard to maintain such a situation (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0205968/), he will have to make a call and decide on a winner (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0207341/).
two mother in laws???
He might have 4. (extending logic that his father in laws also had two wives) :)

I agree with you. It's not required by law to file any AC21 papers so the USCIS cannot do much. Also, the green card cannot be revoked after 5 years so by the time you apply for citizenship, the USCIS cannot do anything bad to you. Worst case, they will ask about it during the citizenship interview so it's a good idea to keep your employment offer handy. But it's very unlikely and I really doubt they can deny your citizenship based on this. That's why I see no drawbacks in not filing AC21 and no benefits in filing it if you know that I-140 won't be withdrawn. My advice would be to take an employment letter from current employer and keep it in case the USCIS asks for it. There is no need to cause troubles for yourself by letting the USCIS know about it.
There are so many things not required by law but you have to do which if you did not do is fraud or lie by ommision. Any material change to your case which could affect the decision of USCIS in awarding you with GC should be reported and USCIS "expects" us to do that.
I am telling all of you, there is a similar case on going right now. A couple apply for citizenship and got denied because of the discovery of fraud on their GC process. They are now in "removal proceedings".

What is the white man's (Europeans and others) visa to America then? I don't see any other ways people can come here on the same conditions as the H-1B visa.
Lol, it happens to be no visa! Most Europeans don't need a visa to get in this country and if they want to, they just stay back.....since they are are the same color as the majority they do not caste doubts or suspicions as much as the 'brown man' does....I don't think the majority of European immigrants to America came with any papers whatsoever......and lets not forget that before '65 race-based immigration was the policy.

hey guys the main problem with digital cameras was that the images from them could be pixelated whn using a lower megapixel camera and/or printing from one of those home photo printers.
i think as long as u dont have pixelation, u will be fine no matter how u print/ get those photos.
i would say use at least a 4 megapixel camera without any flash
What about a 3.2 MP :)
Why shouldn't we use the flash?

In 1996, Congress seriously considered proposals to reduce substantially legal immigration. S. 1394 would have reduced legal immigration by approximately 330,000 a year, or 41 percent, according to the U.S. Department of State. After much debate, those efforts were defeated in the Senate, while similar large-scale legal immigration reductions were stopped in the House.
If the cuts in legal immigration proposed in Congress in 1996 were to become law today, the size of the Social Security actuarial deficit would increase by 13 percent over a 50-year period. (page 8)

Is it really against EEOC guidelines to specify US nationals or GC holders for jobs which do not require security clearance? I mean that specification is so common to job advertisements that I always assumed the law allowed that.. certainly news for me if that is not the case!

Don't judge each day by
the harvest you reap, but
by the seeds you plant
Robert Louis Stevenson
Lawmakers decide to bring an issue for consideration and then vote on the bill. Immigration issues usually start in the immigration sub-committee, then go to Judiciary committee and are finally voted by all members. There are 535 lawmakers (100 Senators + 435 House members).
Most lawmaker offices have a staffer to handle immigration issues.
IV set up 150 lawmaker meetings. A staffer was appraised of EB immigration problems, solutions to prblems and requests for solutions. The staffer gave a business card for future contact. You contact staffer to discuss additional issues, request to bring EB issues for consideration, request lawmaker's vote when bill is being voted, ...
Ideally, IV would like to set up at least one meeting with every lawmaker and more meetings with some lawmakers (members of immigration subcommitee, ...). Due to limited participation, IV could set up only ~150 lawmaker meetings.

FearOnlyGod it is, do not give into bad employers. I looked up google for complain DOL against employer harassment. If you have email or other proof of his recent harassment it can be added to the same complaint to DOL check more resources you should be getting your pay.

Q. What if I believe my former employer is "black-balling" me when a potential new employer is calling for a reference?
A. This is not necessarily illegal. However, if the employer is doing this because you filed a discrimination complaint against them, this could be considered retaliation and that is covered under the Missouri Human Rights Act.

Guys,
Spread the word.
The bill is slipping in its position.....rather, others are overtaking.
Let us tell our friends and colleagues, and encourage and urge them to vote and support.
