You are right. We need contributions in present time. There is no attempt to discourage people from contributing now. Instead, just another way to celebrate the green day with a sense of gratitude.
I would donate 500$ if I get the GC before 2012. If not I would reduce it by 50$ a year there after.

Moved residence couple of weeks back. Changed address online for my 485 case and added for spouse and child as weel?
Is it ok to continue and add spouse and child cases for address change along with my case or do i need to start from scratch with their A numbers? Any idea.

I have taken infopass 2 times in last 2 years, and they just tell me - we cannot tell anything about that info from the "screen" they have access to.
They just give a vague answer that everything is in order but your visa numbers are not available for your dates, you need to wait for visa number
I went twice, both the time they gave me that info. Not only that, they can tell you if your case was assigned to an IO or not and also when the IO reviwed you application lately. You will have to specifically ask them.

I have been following this ongoing decision closely. I feel that going on EAD offers no disadvantage when compared with h1b extension (once 140 is approved and 6 months have passed).
just like h1b you can stay on top to get it renewed every year. Unless one is a bachelor and plans to get the spouse on h4, chamging to EAD doesn't cause any harm. I know a lot of friends who have been on EAD for several years now and have not had a single problem. Th only risk is that if the 485 is rejected, then you have no shelter. But that chance is soooooooo little and i think the 485 rejection only occurs if one is considered to have broken a law, commited a felony or has been in any legal problems.
I am on h1 andhave 2 years and am planning to go on EAD- atleast i can save those 2 years and if some thing happens with my 485, i think i can get h1 sponsored. I don't think so its a one way street (h1 to EAD).

Hello Everyone,
I currently have an employment based I-485 application pending (EB3, India). My application was filed when I was single. Now my spouse is getting ready to file his 140/485concurrently (EB2 NIW, non-retrogressed country). Since I already have a pending 485 application, we do not plan on submitting another 485 application for me when he files his. My understanding is that once he receives his 485 receipt notice, we would just need to inform USCIS that both our 485 applications need to be merged (his being the primary, and mine being the derivative). I just wanted to confirm that this is correct, or if there is anything else that needs to be done.
Please advise.

Hello,
I got my I-485 approval today, but my situation is a little complicated. I'm gonna explain that to you, and I appreciate your comments and thoughts.
My I-140 got approved two months ago, but the sad part is that I lost my job the day after I got my I-140 approval. My employer told me that it was because of the lack of projects, and I'd be back as soon as they got a new project (I don't think that happens soon; actually, I'm not counting on that). I was also told that they would not cancel my GC application (i.e. they won't revoke my I-140), and they would help me even if an RFE was raised to ask for an employment letter. Fortunately enough looks like I've not been out of status since I lost my job (I already filed my I-485 and got the approval for I-140 when I lost my job).
OK! here's what I'm worried about. My lawyer told me that as soon as I get my green card, I'm all set. He told me so when I asked him what would happen if I just wait for my GC approval and not to work for any other employer before then. I even have my EAD, but I decided not to go for another employer to make sure that I'm not raising a flag before getting my GC (that would be fine if I passed more than 180 days after my I-485 approval with an approved I-140). I know that some guys here say it's better (or even it's needed) to work for the company who sponsored your GC 6 months to one year after getting green card in order not to have an issue when applying for citizenship, but the thing is that my company doesn't have any project right now.
- Is there anything I can do to make sure that I'll be safe and sound in the future? What do I need to do now to make sure that my citizenship process in futute is OK?
- Is there anything that the sponsoring company can do regarding this; I mean help me out?
- Can I work for another employer now that I have my GC in hand?

I am not on I140 now but in my situation ( whenever that comes, if that comes!)..I have been working for my current emplyer for 7 years and if I were to file I140 tomorrow :) ..am I supposed to look & get the job experience from soebody I worked around 7 years ago...they don't even remember me!
my situation- labor filed Oct 2001( after 9/11 happened, I could have applied earlier but for my stupidity!)..(my attorney filed in EB3 ..and I do not know why..)..and I am stuck in the mud now...
please let me know...because I will have to really folow up on them..
