CLearly he was trying to scam people, even his first couple of sentances in the discription were worded in a way to make you think it was an actual phone.
The iphone is finally out for Verizon! I couldn't wait to get one, and thanks to a buy one get one free deal I have an extra one! Don't miss your chance to own one of these! Best phone with the best network. This auction is for a photo of an iPhone only, no phone included. Don't worry about shipping, it's free to the lower 48 states! if you live outside of this region please contact me ahead of time and let me know, I'll calculate additional shipping. Thanks!

I thought something was suspicious just looking at their feedback rating before reading their description. I guess that is what you get for dealing with someone with a cloudy past and not reading what you are bidding on or buying, that seller needs to be banned from eBay.

That ability is there. But rather than give its customers a choice of opting in, FT would rather sell your information without your approval.
Right, I was just responding to the poster who didn't think Apple allowed users to opt-in.
Personally, I don't know why anyone would want to...

What's funny is that there is tons of money to be made in enterprise hardware, software, and support. The problem is that it requires two things - long term support and road maps. It is completely against Apple's culture to provide either of those, thus they will always be horrible in the enterprise.

And you are just proving how little you understand the market in that area.
You forget that those parts Samsung supplies there is a SHORTAGE of them on the open market. Apple can not afford to loose Samsung because no one else has the production to replace them. It would cost Apple a lot more money to replace them. Samsung on the other had because of the shortage sell for a greater amount to other companies.
Apple may be a first tear buying in that area but they still are a minor player in terms of over all buyers. Samsung is a major player in that market.
And you seem to only believe that there is only one company can provide Apple it's components?
There are loads of them.
And look at what Apple are doing with screens - they are sourcing parts from multiple companies to make the numbers. Which is exactly how Samsung will be taken apart if needs be.
However, that won't happen anytime soon as Samsung are in cast iron contracts to supply. Samsung defaults, and it will be in a world of financial hurt, far more than pesky patent rows. It will be up against a multi billion dollar default that will make BPs payout in the Gulf look like small change.

gosh i can remember not that many years ago.. before i had established clients... rent would be due the next day and i was $100 short... then the phone rings with some new low budget client... i tell ya, those problematic and low-budget clients save the day now and again.
until you get established and can reliably and predictably pay the bills each month, be careful which projects you walk away from. once you get going, build up a supply of cash-money, enough to get you through a few bad months.
alot of people here may be established and have good and reliable income, and some may have been substantially profitable from day one, but im sure many of us can remember the early days and the lean days, when you might have taken a client you would never touch nowadays.
always make certain you can pay the bills each month, sometimes that means you have to deal with a knucklehead, or get paid substantially less than what you want, and if it turns out that you have to do just that, don't think less of yourself for it, the lean days will pass, the good days will come. many of us have been there and back, more than once.
be honorable, fair, charitable. in your spare time build websites, etc for people/groups who need them. ie, independent homeless shelters for runaway kids. add it to your portfolio if you need to, especially when your starting out.
Hi. Thanks for the kind advice; I appreciate it. :)

A survey of A.C.E. members (American Cinema Editors), who mainly work on 'Hollywood' TV shows and movies, taken around the same time showed that about 80% of members used Avid while about 10% used FCP.

Very nice selections, they are certainly very appropriate members to become moderators.
However, do you think we can change edesignuk's official title from mini-mod to mod mini, more inline with Apple's product naming scheme? :p
Good luck all of you.

And how exactly did murdering Bin Laden help us any? All he is now is a trophy for Obama's next campaign.
Well capturing a person with the will, political power and finical power that Osama had is clearly a threat to us(being the West)
Murdering was a result of attempting to capture him, he did resist, I don't blame the SEALs for killing him. I would fool around with Osama Bin Laden either.

It's been a while since I've posted but I think I've got one worthy this month :D
http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4148/5080911417_7eb6e59648_z.jpg (http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4148/5080911417_7eb6e59648_b.jpg)
And just in case the link breaks you can find it on my Flickr page here (http://www.flickr.com/photos/edriddle/5080911417/).
The name of this piece is called "The Usual Scum" and it was drawn by the very talented Otis Frampton (http://otisframpton.com/) for me so it's not available for download in it's full size, an amazing 4200x2914. It is of course a take off of the movie poster for "The Usual Suspects".
http://www.gsdvds.com/suspects.gif
For those interested, Otis draws these live via Ustream and then posts them for later viewing. You can watch him draw this one here (http://www.ustream.tv/recorded/9558615). Also, if you've never been in a live Ustream before he's talking to the folks that are chatting with him via text, he's not talking to himself :).

That's a great idea! I'd love to see that for when I'm traveling and don't want to turn on international data roaming for the internet, but can still use cell towers for triangulation of my position.

12 Petabytes doesn't seem like all that much. I have a 2TB drive sitting on my desk, and this would be like 6,000 of my drives. Doesn't seem like that much when you think about the amount of customers they are likely to be serving.
Is that the car from back to the future? Those movies were great :)

How hard is it to uncheck these two boxes?

And other publications, like The Economist, already come with the equivalent boxes unchecked by default.
Stop confusing the issue with facts and evidence. ;)

I just bought a 20GB iPod and I need a travel case/pouch to carry the iPod and some accessories in. Does anyone have suggestions on a good one?
