Hi...
I've been using a Power Mac G5 for Logic, but need to upgrade to use my UAD-2 card and Logic Studio 9... the question is what is the best machine within reason to go for? A slower dual processor 8 core system of faster single core quad or six core?
Any advice would be much appreciated.
Many thanks...

I was thinking about this, but if they're doing it with the iPad 1....
Will wait until next year - I've seem some Apps already choke on the iPad 1, and the assumption is that some of these Apps will require an iPad 2 for their latest versions...

hehe With 11 billion cash in the bank (half of Adobe's market cap), it would be really sweet if Apple acquired Adobe!
Drop all Adobe apps for Windows. Force people to either convert to Mac or find an alternative.
Ah it's just an awful, evil dream.
Please come true :)
...and then M$ would dump Office for the Mac and by-by mac sales (well, new buyers in any case.)

Unless the microgenetics machines are small, well, there are several stages in DNA transcription and reverse transcriptase, which would make several conditions unsuitable. Heat destroys it. It can be awfully slow. There are at least 6 stages using different equipment.

it is strange that they added a fourth band (VIII - 900 frequency) which is for more of europe, asia and also vodaNZ but doesn't open up anything in the US... even stranger is that i was just in NZ and my 3G[S] (which doesn't support VIII / 900 apparently) was on the vodaNZ 3G network the whole time. anyone with knowledge of this whole UMTS / HSDPA band and frequency thing, please tell me how this worked then?
I guess Apple added the 3G in 900Mhz to support the 3G networks in Europe. 3G in Europe has been historically in the 2100Mhz band, but that band has poor propagation (poor in building reception) so since a few years there has been some refarming going on of regular GSM bands at 900Mhz to 3G in euroland. Most 3G phones these days in Europe are 900/2100 3G so I'm assuming Apple just wanted to be competitive in Europe in terms of reception.

I just downloaded the latest Garage Band for my MBP. Upon trying to use certain instruments it gives me some message about "the instrument or loop you've selected is not currently installed on your machine. Would you like to download and install all of the Garage Band instruments and loops at this time?"
Well, I've now downloaded and installed the additional content THREE times and STILL....every single time I reopen GB and try to use one of those instruments, I get the EXACT SAME MESSAGE!....
How many times does one have to download and install Apple software before your Apple computer acknowledges that you've done so?:(
I've tried to request a refund for the whole damn app, as this aggravation has now soured me on the program in total. However, every single time I try to report a problem to the app store, Apple has totally changed the site, the way you file a complaint is different, the screens are different, the hoops they make you jump through are different, the options on offer are different...blah, blah, blah.
This feels like a deliberate attempt to just wear unhappy customers down and just get them to give up and go away. Now there's some absurd, Twitter style character limit window that you have to type your problem into? WTF? How rude and dismissive? All their bs about being "easy and intuitive and user friendly" goes out the window when you want to make a complaint or simply ask a question, THEN it's an ever changing minefield of screens, buttons, and dead ends.:apple:
I've been an Apple owner/user for 1.5 years now and this is just another example of why it's been 1.5 years of total and utter frustration and dissatisfaction with my MBP and this company.

Having run Linux for the past two years, I find this bit hilarious.
Yeah, no kidding. I have all three flavors sitting at my desk at home. I have a Win 7 gaming rig, Mac Mini, and an old P4 Linux machine. Personally, I have never found Windows difficult to use, especially compared to Linux. So, do I have split personalities or something?
Anyway, I am the total opposite of most of these. I do have a college degree, but I am nearly a carnivore, can't stand wine (give me a good craft beer or whiskey), prefer Dr. Pepper, and I have no idea what San Pellegrino Limonata is. If I rode a bike, it would be something insanely fast that would get me killed quickly, like a Ducati or something.

Does this mean we might actually see a 3GHz G5 Powerbook?
I know really. I could see the tagline now:
The new PowerBook G5. Power cords are a thing of the past.
Yea, kinda cheesy, but you get the idea. :)
ARRGGGH! You guys beat me to it.
I was certain we were getting G5 Powerbooks on Tuesday based on this news.:D

I'm kinda glad I waited on this, but maybe not. The trial versions of games online is almost worth the price. I don't know a good place nearby to rent games, and I'm not doing that Gamefly or whatever thing for $8 a month because I wouldn't rent THAT many. Those demos make it easier to commit to a game.
I just bought Star Wars: TFU today used. I got the Sith edition after the guy at the store explained it to me. You save $5 overall ($40 versus $15 for original and $30 for addons) and I don't have to clutter HD space that I may need later.
The Magic game I bought from the online store is awesome. There look to be a lot of other good online games as well. I do wish I didn't have to run a network cable across my floor, but I saved $150 doing that. I can find rug and cover that thing up if needed.
So awesome recommendation. The PS3 might be nice, but I love this thing so far.

I find it amazing he's never used a computer before doing the Mac ads. But he uses a Mac now, and that's all that counts. :)
The funny thing is that on Leno last week (week of Aug 7) he said he didn't care what he used - I don't recall his exact quotation. He was somewhat amusing on there with stories about people coming up to him.

The Liberals deserved it, they need a new leader and this is a big wake up call. The NDP deserved what they received as well. But thankfully we won't waste more of taxpayers money on elections until 2015!

A little off topic, but question for those who need Office software, and also run Parallels/Fusion: Do you prefer Office For Mac, or do you prefer to run "regular" Office in Parallels/Fusion? Thanks.
I have Office 2011 for Mac and Office 2010 for Windows which I run in VMWare Fusion (got both for $9.95 each through Microsoft's Home Use Program). I much prefer Excel 2010 in Windows but Word 2011 and PowerPoint 2011 for Mac are fine.

Well then what was your question? That list is what you want: a list of all supported cameras. The 9500 is not supported.
I believe he was answering my question.

If Verizon was not CDMA I think we would of seen a Verizon iPhone. I just don't think Apple really wants to mess with two different models of the phone.
disagree with you in England iphone is sell by 5 companies
I really hope T-Mobile isn't chosen...I had them for a year and a half and what horrible customer service. Not to mention that their coverage in Palm Springs, CA is horrible. Apple should go with Verizon, I did go with AT&T myself, but Verizon is rated highest of all the carriers for customer satisfaction and coverage.
I wish that more companies will sell the iphone in the US so at&t will not act as a monopoly DO YOU RIMMBER some 20 years ago at&t was broken out by the goverment because of monopoly lows? I thing its time to do it again

After listening to the sound bite of Trump asking for both Obama's birth certificate and college records, he strikes me as a political opportunist grasping for straws or he is a raciest.
He can be both, can't he?

To be fair, Justin Long's name was known before the Apple ads. As well as John Hodgman's. Justin for Dodgeball, and John for his stints on the Daily Show.
Those two actor's names are only known in America, I'm sure Japanese have never heard of them (and probably don't care much either), Australians wouldn't know who they are.
