In Florida, one has to show an EVL before they give the one year "temporary" license. I wonder what happens when your H-1B expires and your renewed H-1B has not arrived, sit at home:confused:
In one word - YES !!! the DL office in georgia would not renew my license even 1 day early ..my old EAD was expiring in 6 days and I had my new EAD in hand. went to DL office and asked them to renew ..they said come when old license expires ,,I said I would need to take a holiday just for renewal - they said - not our problem.
I said - I would be driving on expired license when I come to DL office ..they said talk to immigration ..I said do you know legal immi and USCIS is broken :)
I told my manager ...these guys cannot even add 2 plus 2 ...(old ead expiring on 5th and new one starting from 6th )

A lot many can empathize with you. But if you are looking for relief - you ought to take responsibility for how you feel. You already understand the forces of nature - you will get your GC when it's your time. If anything your needless frustration and forceful attempts are only interfering with the energies that have made your PD current.
Just relax - get some exercise, eat well and participate in things that lift your soul.

I am really getting frustrated (I am not saying that I have been waiting for GC approval desperately). I just want to share my frustration and what I have been going through. I know I am in a better position than most of other people whose priority date is not even current. I wish they never dangled a carrot in front of me. I am not sure if they disappoint me next month, but I am still keeping my hopes. Hopefully, I would get over this and have enough sleep from today.

If these these letters aren't that credible, then it's also possible that the application may still be stuck in namecheck.
It's so sad to see how they really operate and they have to stoop to such low standards of ethics.

Its not only for illegals but its also for kids of legals that aged out due to retrogression or backlogs in visas...plz don't be selfish with view points like "it doesnt help us so im gonna oppose it"....instead help the children who aged out due to the visa backlogs!!! Aging out does not mean that you become illegal. I suspect you are from Alipac or NumbersUSA trying to bait IV into supporting something to do with illegal immigration.

Made 3 info pass appointments(Name Check cleared), initiated 2 separate inquiries one thru OMBUDSMAN. must have called USCIS about 10 times and checked the online status atleast 3 times a day . Pedantic. Mostly because my application was pre-approved and lot applications around my PD's were approved and I thought I was really close . Alas, that was not to be . I was pretty dissapointed for a few months.
However in the last 6 months I have moved on mentally, I browse IV and consider other options like switching to Eb2 but gone are those pedantic days followed by huge disappointments.

Yes, don't worry guys. Once I-140 is approved, most of employment and job related stuff is over.
I-485 is mainly for status change stage to check criminal background (not job related :) ), FP and name check. They won't check much on job.
It is all straight forward and only a time consuming stage. Thats all. Enjoy the AOS pending stage.

When i talked to my lawyer she said that employement verification is done in I-140 and since that is approved I dont need to worry abt it for 485??

I filed my I-485 (Nov 2004 EB3), but my old labor ( EB3 Mar 2003) got cleared. I am going to apply another labor in EB2 and move this EB3 priority date to that EB2, that way my case will be current.
Not very much sure about its possibility, any suggestions.
But coming back to the point, you are in a better boat by not filing, you can atleasr make it as EB2 and get the Green card Faster.

2+ 3 you are mentioning is where +3 = three year degree program like BSc / BCS/ BCom programs offered in India. Here I think we are discussing 3 year DIPLOMA program the eligiblity for which is 10th grade. After finishing this program in some universities you are waived 1st year coursework for the degree program in same field. So for regular people it is 10+2+4 to get a bachelors where as people taking the diploma route it is 10+3+3. So in this case of our friend his 10+3 is equivalent to completed only 1st year degree program. the +2 overlaps with what he has studied in +3 and the +1 in commerce will not be counted in coursework.
Anuj: What subject was your diploma was it a management diploma or engineering diploma? What was the eligiblity for the same? Was the institute reputed like does it have an entrance test? If yes do you know their acceptance rate? Might help in preparing a case
