Federal Reserve Chairman Ben Bernanke said that on September 15, 2009, the worst recession since the 1930s is probably over, although he cautioned that pain - especially for the nearly 15 million unemployed Americans - will persist. Bernanke said the economy likely is growing now, but he warned that won't be sufficient to prevent the unemployment rate, now at a 26-year high of 9.7 percent, from rising. The recession, which started in December 2007, has claimed a net total of 6.9 million jobs.
With expectations for a lethargic recovery, the Fed predicts that unemployment will top 10 percent this year. The post-World War II high was 10.8 percent at the end of 1982. Some economists say it will take at least four years for the jobless rate to drop down to a more normal range of 5 percent.
Analysts predict the U.S. economy is growing in the current quarter, which ends Sept. 30, at an annual rate of 3 to 4 percent. It shrank at a 1 percent pace in the second quarter, much slower than in previous quarters. While many on Wall Street have been encouraged by early signs of stabilization in U.S. home prices and hope the housing market may have hit bottom, others aren't so sure.

And his remarks came on the same day that the government report that retail sales jumped 2.7 percent in August, the most in more than three years. All this helped to lift stocks on Wall Street. He said that the economy is coping with "ongoing headwinds," including hard-to-get-credit for consumers and businesses, and households saving more, spending less and trimming their debt. You don't need to send anything - they already have your I-485 application. They will ask if they want. After few weeks of e-filing, I was called for "biometrics". They only took my picture, and that was it. On 11th week I got my EAD. Mine was same as yours: first EAD but having one prior OPT. I mentioned OPT EAD in my application.

Hi all,
Please help me with the following questions.
I am planning to apply for h1b transfer in the near future but with a paystub that is having salary lesser than the usual one. Is that advisable to do premium processing in this case?
I am looking for the premium processing option as I might have to travel outside USA before I could know about the result(approval or rejection) so I assumed that I can know the result through premium processing, travel without any problem and can get it stamped too.
Or is it fine to travel when I have applied for the transfer?I have my company A visa(which I got last year) stamped in my passport.
please let me know your thoughts

It is legal to be paid for taking part in a clinical research study if you are on an H1B. The institution will provide you with a 1099 at the end of the year which you file with your tax return and of course declare the income.
In answer to the second posting not all research is experimental so the risks can be minimal if almost non existent and a very easy way to get a bit extra cash.

My 140 was approved few months back. My lawyer specifed consular processing without my knowledge.
How do i change it to AOS?. I heard that when my PD is current NVC will sent forms. Do I need to specify AOS in that form?. Who will get those forms?. Attorney or applicant.

"Is it usual for big employers to already have H1 visas to sponser you on".. All I know is that employers cannot have blank visas for hiring whom they want. They have to file a new application for a specific employee, so they have to start from scratch.
If your F1 covers you for 2.5 years, then there's some hope that immigration laws will change during this time. Because right now it's a nightmare. If nothing changes in the laws and cap number stays at ~65,000, then you will have to win a lottery to get an H1. We'll see on April 1, but most likely there is also a lottery for Master's degree holders.

Gurus Here is my situation:
1) I am in my 4th year of H1-B still valid
2) My 1-140 is pending (Concurrently filed in July 2007) so more than > 180 days
3) Have approved EAD and AP
4) My Current company was a joint version between company A-B . differnt name X
5) Today they decide to split and My job will move to company A by end of this month. Work won�t change..will keep doing what have been doing But now employee of comany A not X
What are my options? I am worried about my GC process..will I loose everything and have to restart the process since I can not evoke my AC21 ..since it�s not approved yet.
Please Advise

I am planning to port my EB3 to EB2 but I donot have the Approval copy of my I-140 of my EB3 (But I have the receipt number) and I asked my privious Employer(who applied my case in EB3 and I used AC21 and moved to another company) for a copy of approved I-140 and he is not willing to give it to me.
Can I still port with out having I-140 approval copy of EB3? if yes, how?

Are people getting soft lud on 485 recently?.
The reason why i am asking this is my 485 did not have any LUD for past 1 year and i got one today for all my 485(mine,dependents). 140 did not have any LUD only 485s. No AP,EAD renewals..
I know from previous threads it means nothing. Just wanted to check. Was trying to not post about this but at last i posted.
My wife got RFE after this LUD, Mine and my kid's no change. Waiting for RFE details. I think since the processing time for Texas is Aug 2007 they are pre adjusting the apps, i guess.
The reason why i am asking this is my 485 did not have any LUD for past 1 year and i got one today for all my 485(mine,dependents). 140 did not have any LUD only 485s. No AP,EAD renewals..

After a week, I came to know that company was not e-verified company, still working with them on OPT...& asked them to apply for H1.
My company dont want to everify at this point, since they will make many new hire & dont want to add additional steps in hiring.
We filed H1 start as Oct 1, 2010, though i joined in May , also i did not inform my school my new Job.
They applied for H1 through premium processing & Got an RFE. I asked the attorney what is about RFE, she told its about
'' they are requesting verification that you really are an employee of my company and how my company h has control over my work. The deadline for the information to be sent back is September 22, 2010.
Can anyone advise me, how i can prove myself in this case.....
