Where did you read extra cash is being pumped into other gov projects.
I read on USCIS website they were hiring 1500 new employees.
to be fair to USCIS they did try to get out of the fiasco on july 1 by moving the dates back again Eventually they were forced to accept it again..
They clearly knew this was cash cow so why did they want to cancel it in the first place..
Its a lot of money and its definitely a lot of work as well..There are also no signs of hiring new stafff..most of extra cash they getting is being pumped into other gov projects so the staff is still being overworked and I am sure will be complaning

Also I heard that they came got this data from USCIS and DOS as a part of their lawsuit against DOS or USCIS for wastage of EB-3 numbers for the Chinese quota. Again, the news if unconfirmed, but was posted on Ron Gotcher's site along with these links.

Once you apply for I-485, you are in "adjustment of status" - an intermediate status. No H4 is required. However, you can work only if you have a work visa or EAD. In case of a student, if you have OPT, you are ok to work.
Thank you for your response, I appreciate it. Unfortunately, there is not OPT in this case.
Due to the large number of cases to be received by the USCIS, it is just anybody's guess when these documents will be available, hence my question.
My next question is, if one applies for H1 (cap exempt) for spouse, while the EAD is pending, is that allowed? I doubt if anybody had to do this, but it may be something to consider going forward.

Another consulting company may very well hold your H1B, but you will have to be working through them. You cannot sit on bench and they "hold" your visa. I will suggest transferring your visa ASAP to another company.
You can very well go to H4 and again go to H1B under new quota, but why take the risk? If you are not selected in lottery, you again have to wait until next year.
Get your H1 transferred and find a job agressively.

Same is the case with me. I work for fortune 600 employer. My employer stopped filing PERM just before filing after ads are posted stating the same reason - unemployment rate too high. I thought he was just BS ing with me.Looks like he was honest. This happened in jan 2009. Even now, they are not willing to file PERM. My 6 year term expires in July 2012. So I still have some buffer to file for green card. My VP said ' we have got candidates, so we cannot file green card for you now.we will see after 6 months if job market recovers'. I dont think it is good time to file PERM.

There is a positive news on the job market recovery. Is it a good time to apply for PERM Labor now? FYI, my second H1B expires 09/30/2011.
2. Is it possible to file multiple PERM Labor Certifications through two different employers at the same time? If yes, could I choose the employer I would like to stay, if both gets approved approximately at the same time?
3. How long I can continue with future employment in the GC process?
4. If the Labor get audited, is it possible to apply for H1B extension after 6th year?
5. Is it possible to port I-140 & procedure involved to port with / without the consent of current employer.

Someone told me recently, if ur on EAD and 485 gets rejected, ur H1 can be reinstated. This H1 will not be from the cap and you will only be getting the left over time from 6 yrs.

i doubt they woould do an inch in our against , Social security , Medical is something we pay without even thinking of it there are more than 300K + in our boat and thats huge money 300,000* 300 on 90000000 thats just social security so no worries relax .
