How many people here want to choose to get tons of junk mail delivered to their house?
Raise your hand if you'd take that option.
The simple fact that the Financial Times is a UK company and therefore their privacy policy actually means something kind of takes the wind out of your sails somewhat.
Just read their privacy policy and it is clear that they only send you junk email if you explicitly allow it. Plus as an ex-FT subscriber I can state I haven't received any junk mail of any kind.

I still use a Verizon dumbphone. I see no real reason to switch to iphone, simply because I have little interest in the device (plus, I can't afford a data plan right now, which is required when you buy a Verizon smartphone)
Insightful. Thanks!

I've been saying that Apple was going to replace Google maps in iOS since last year in iOS 5. I hope I'm right.

In the UK, you are contracted to the retailer you bought it from. They are responsible for the product for six years. We have good laws in place to protect the consumer. I find it hard to understand why people never use their rights under laws such as the Sales of Goods Act.
A warranty is an insurance policy. Apple Care in the UK is not a policy from Apple, but a third party insurance company that they are contracted with. Can't remember the name of the company.
Apple are pretty good at repairing out of guarantee/Apple Care products, even when these times have lapsed. Had a power supply and logic board in my 4 year old iMac replaced for free. Sales of Goods Act is your best friend. :)
Whilst I always love to see people using the Sale of Goods Act to get what they deserve, can I make one small correction to avoid confusion?
The SOGA can offer protection for up to 6 years, but not automatically. The goods should be of "satisfactory quality" and this does not mean everything should last 6 years. The question the judge asks is- how long would the 'reasonable man' expect this item to last? For an iPad easily 2 years (Apple offer Applecare that long) maybe 3 if you are lucky. I don't think an iPad should be expected to last 6 years though.
Remember almost everything you buy is subject to SOGA, and I can't ask my local stationers to replace my black biro after 5 years if it stops working!

May seem like a silly question about the shuffle....but can the 2nd gen Shuffle play gapless if you set it off shuffle and load in a gapless album?

Does anybody know of a piece of music i could use for my slideshow?
The sideshow contains picture of a camping trip in the summer holidays.
Thanks people.
For me, Holiday Road from National Lampoon's Vacation is the quintessential road trip song, but I don't know if that works for your slides.

Wait, I thought the "Castle in the Sky" saying had a negative connotation ?
A phrase or colloquialism which is a reference to the full metaphor "[He/She] has built castles in the sky but lives in squalor on the ground." This is usually intended to be a criticism of any person who has a rich imagination but does not benefit from it in any measurable or practical way. As an example: A "starving artist". It is to say that a person's reality is quite different from their imagined life.
People think it's a nice name for a service ?

I have a Mac Pro Quad core (early2009) with 1 gt120
As i understand it that there isnt a way to get 4 separate projectors (non-mirrored) with just this setup and a cheap DVI to 2 VGA splitter.
If i have 2 gt120s will i be able to run a 4 screen setup?
If so whats the cheapest way to get this setup to work?
Thanks
Miles

MUAHAAHA. Both of this chucklehead's crap auctions have been nullified and zapped into the ether by eBay. The original link is dead and searching the seller's past auctions yields no iphone auctions...only a fugly handbag he used when he was crossdressing. The toolbag gets NOTHING (as if he ever would have) and the buyer has zero obligation to pay this fool a dime (as if they ever did).
So stratobaterdan, let's hear all about how you're going to sue eBay or take the headquarters hostage with your toy guns, or whatever your next fantasy is. Wait, what's that? I think I hear your momma calling...

As an Apple shareholder, my main concern over the iPhone is whether or not Apple can make money on such a product and also not damage the reputation for releasing quality products.
Alright I know a few are going to say that Apple products suck and have been on downward spiral for years, whatever, bottom line, their products and reputation are better than most.
I'm sure Apple could create a great iPhone, but I would never want them to be controled by the various carriers. I can hear it already, my iPhone drops 1/2 of it's calls, my old crappy phone was so much better (blah, blah, blah) and the whole time it's really the carrier which is terriable not Apple. This is something that Apple wants and must avoid. FYI, I've used Verizon, Sprint, AT&T and T-mobile and none of them seem to work with their top of the line phones in my area. Meanwhile my Sister-inlaw had managed to keep her simple stripped down Verizon phone for years and it works perfectly at my house. She needed to get a new battery and they tried to upsell her a new phone and she refused and then the sales person told her that the older phones just work better than the newer models.
I agree with you 100% about the RAZR, when I thought about getting one, everyone I knew who had one advised me against it, all of them claiming that it's the worst phone ever!

They should buy one of those dedicated GPS/Maps companies like Garmin or TomTom and integrate their software into iOS5. Microsoft will be doing it soon with OVI and i suspect Google will be doing something similar with their new vector based version of Google MAPS.
It will be a shame for apple to be left out of this game.
TomTom or Garmin wouldn't help Apple that much. Garmin and TomTom both license either Teleatlas or Navteq for road data and they don't have access to much else since most of their devices are "offline" devices. Google has used Google Maps to build up a lot of data (they currently provide their own traffic on Google maps by curating all the data from mobile GMaps users, etc). A lot of people are missing out on the fact that "maps" that people expect today is a lot more than just road data. Getting access to road data is not that complicated for Apple to obtain. The rest is very complicated. Currently Google is the leader in this and there really isn't a close second (although Bing is doing some innovative things in this area).

Completely disgusting...however, and off the record, I concur. ;)
You have no idea, I would put more into a car than I would a relationship.

Valet happens to be one of the few departments I oversee at the resort I work at... ive driven a few that have come through here and must say, certainly one of the top 3 cars ive ever driven.
the others in the list of top cars, are easily 3-4 times the price of the GTR
Nice. Of course in Atlanta (especially since I'm in between Midtown & Buckhead), we see all those supercars. But the best I've seen was an imported JDM (seemingly) GT-R R34 sitting in the 2nd level parking deck of Atlantic Station.
Me and this other dude went ape ****.

I quite like it.

Much better than the old one. Too bad GM insists on selling the I4 LTZ for the same price of a Fusion V6.

so this is only unlimited "to" any mobile, what about "From"
I know this is how Sprint's plans work. AT&T is looking better and better. Now if you could just stay connected long enough to carry on a conversation.
