Oh, ok.
How about designing a new packaging for tea bags, something that's unique and makes it easy to pull out a single bag without opening a box. While not necessary, I think it'd be cool to see a new design for that.
Again, thoroughly random here.

kinds of looks like any page with tons of flash games on it.
Sorry but not going to go with the standard Apple coping crap here. Apple copies a lay out that was out for those web pages with flash games.
On top of that it looks a lot like the game folder on Windows Vista/7. On top of that MS called apple on saying App Store was generic looks like they are making the point even bigger now.
Picture from the game folder from my laptop attached
Sure, in your mind it's always Apple's fault.
If you hate Apple so much why are you here?

Howdy. I have a Logitech G5, Logitech G9, and Razer Lachesis. I love 'em all but none has a Mac driver. :(
Do you use a laser mouse? If so, which do you use?
(I don't game, but the higher sensitivity works nicely for larger screen resolutions and some graphic design)
Thx!
I use a Apple Magic Mouse.. which is a laser mouse, and works fantastically (as youd expect) with Mac OS X.

I should mail him back and remind him to tuck his period inside the parentheses.
Periods shouldn`t be inside of paranthese (unless it`s a compete sentence), so you might not want to do that...
Edit: jsw kind of beat me to it... :p

eyelike art is still around, ambitiouslemon is on sabatical, kela posted last in April, spikey might be around under a different name, he hasn't been seen in quite some time, and blakespot is off doing his own thing, although I think he still helps arn with the site.
I don't fall under the 'old skool' banner, but I've been around longer than most these days. But maybe you should try a reunion thread, only for anyone who's of a certain age.

Hello everyone,
I'm currently searching around in Illustrator CS5 for a thing that is probably very simple. The thing is: I'm having a logo of a company, but I need just a part of it. The logo is an .EPS file and I'm trying to cut the piece that I need out. I'm searching for hours now, but I can't find a way to do this? Does anyone know how to do this? Is there no such thing a simple cut tool in Illustrator?
Thanks in advance,
Kees Braam
P.S: I've tried it in Photoshop and it worked just fine. The only problem with Photoshop is that when I open the .EPS file Photoshop converts it to pixels, so I can't scale it up in Illustrator afterwards (or I will incredibly bad quality).

If it's not a Dreamweaver template (which I'm 99% sure it is) then it is simply a Macromedia.com rip-off (in terms of design).
Still, nicely done :)
Yes, you are right, it is a dreamweaver template. I'm working right now on a new layout but I wanted to get the site up and running again so I took the quick and easy route in the meantime. Either way, I think macromedia's design is a great starter.

Why annoying, because PowerPoint is so lame? You can export Keynote to PowerPoint, or to Flash, or QuickTime, or PDF.
What we really need is a Windows Keynote player downloadable for free off of Apple's website. ...Apple could probably throw one together in a day and iWork sales would skyrocket (not to mention the switching potential of the Windows users watching such a beautiful presentation on their piece of crap :D).

keith is probably right re: dv import, i don't use imovie so i don't know (thus the version history link). There shouldn't be any qualitative difference btwn DV files imported on older / newer machines and the import from tape is in real-time, so an old machine will crank away just as well as anything. The new machine will make a big difference when actually transcoding, editing, and exporting.

Hi all,
Basically I'm in a little situation and I'd like to know what you guys think is the best course of action.
So this deal was done off ebay, but I talked to the member on ebay. It just wasn't bought with Paypal and isn't going through an item listing. It sounds completely unsafe and dodgey but it hasn't proved to be all bad news.
It started off he offered to do it $650 for 32gb iPhone 4 sealed & unused. I said okay, can I do that Paypal? He said no because the fees would be too high, like $40 on an item that expensive?
Then I said, okay, can you make an item listing for it at least so we can feedback each other also? He declined that too and said the fees for the listing would be a lot.
He said bank deposit only for that price. I declined and said sorry this isn't a safe enough method. He offers COD (Cash on delivery). I accepted that but what I didn't realize is you can't even check what's being posted to you first, you have to pay first.
Either that's the case everywhere or the guy at my post office is a twat.
So I'm standing there when it arrives and I said do you mind if I check it's what I ordered? He said I can't, I have to pay first. So on the spot, I did.
I open it up, it's a brand new condition but slightly used iPhone 4 16gb. Not sealed, not entirely new and the wrong capacity.
But, its a genuine iPhone 4 16gb and it works perfectly.
Now I STILL have it.
I contacted him and he said he is sorry for the mistake and one of his friends or ebay helpers (or something, I don't really know) packed it and got it wrong. He said send it back and he will send me the 32g.
I told him, nothing personal but I want some form of protection too. If I send it and don't hear from you again, I have no way of getting back my $650. I asked that he send the 32g first.
Obviously, he declined and said I had to return the other one first. He said why would I doubt him, he already sent this one. I do agree there.
So I have a few options now. I can send it back express, and hope it all goes fine. If I do that I'll get it back sooner as he said he'd post it express back. If he takes my money and runs, that's pretty much the end BUT I do have his and his companions full name if I can take legal action with a private sale?
The other option is I have a friend in SA, where he is. She's agreed to help me if I go ahead with this idea. The plan would be to post the 16g to her, and she would meet with him on the 11th May to do an exchange in person. She'd then send the new 32g back to me. And I've known her my entire life so that plan is sound, bar one thing.
If for some reason they can't get in contact on the 11th, it will waste a lot of time.
I don't want to waste any more time because I'm over doing things like this when I need to be doing other things.
Keeping in mind, he has my $650 right now because to receive this 16g I have to pay the cash on delivery.
Your thoughts on the situation?

Seems like a pretty good choice. I didn't realize anything was beating the Vertexes, although it's been about a year since I went shopping. (The IBM's were always a little faster, but a lot more dollars as well.)

Following a Flight Readiness Review today, NASA and Space Shuttle Program managers announced that space shuttle Discovery is ready to launch next week Thursday to finally send the STS-133 mission to the International Space Station. Launch is now scheduled for Feb. 24, at 4:50 p.m. EST. “We had a really thorough review today,” said William Gerstenmaier, NASA’s associate administrator for Space Operations. “Things are looking pretty good.”
The STS-133 crew will bring the Permanent Multipurpose Module (PMM) to the station. The PMM was converted from the multi-purpose logistics module Leonardo and will provide additional storage for the station crew. Later, experiments may be conducted in the module, in fields like fluid physics, materials science, biology and biotechnology.
The first human-like robot will also make the trip to the ISS. Robonaut 2 will become a permanent resident of the station. In addition, Discovery will bring critical spare parts and the Express Logistics Carrier 4, an external platform that holds large equipment.
Managers, engineers and contractors went over the detailed analysis and testing performed on the “stringer” or support beams of Discovery’s external fuel tank during the session and reviewed the repairs and modifications made.
Mike Moses, chairman of the Mission Management Team, described the fix as a “a big metal band-aid” to give the metal beams extra support.
The processes of the repairs and testing involved people throughout the agency and its centers, and the managers at today’s press conference lauded the teams.
“I can’t say enough about the work the teams have done,” Gerstenmaier said. “They’ve done just an outstanding job to get us to where we are now ready to launch.”
The crew also underwent a change recently when astronaut Steve Bowen was assigned to take the place of Tim Kopra who was injured in a bicycle accident.
“Overall the crew was in really good shape and felt really comfortable with this change,” said Moses.
The managers at the FRR approved the February 24 launch date even thought the European resupply ship – the ATV Johannes Kepler — is scheduled to dock at the space station just six hours before Discovery’s launch. Moses said they are confident the ATV will dock, but will be ready to modify the shuttle launch should there be any problems with the ATV.
“If they run into a problem in docking we will discuss the issue in real time,” Moses said at the press conference. “We still might launch that day, we might not, depending on the situation. But the space station program would really like to have the ATV docked during this mission.”
Discovery now sits on Launch Pad 39A at NASA’s Kennedy Space Center in Florida, ready for launch. The countdown will begin Monday at 3 p.m. “We’re in outstanding shape out at the pad,” said Mike Leinbach, shuttle launch director.link (http://www.universetoday.com/83419/nasa-sets-sts-133-launch-for-february-24/)

i myself had this problem once in the past, i fixed it by using a small amount of superglue on the edges of the processor, just enough so it sticks firmly in place but not too much that it blocks the thermal paste between the heatsink and processor
will that fix the issue message that I keep getting? When I boot to the desktop it always says " restart" with a error message that looks like a shutdown button..

Specifically, you mean men's trousers.
Perhaps it's to do with the way men's clothing in Western society has adapted through the years as responses to their occupations, especially since the Industrial Revolution. Hard-wearing and inexpensive textiles for manual workers, expensive but muted colours for those in non-manual trades... combined with the general expense of decorative fabrics.
But I'm just wildly speculating here...
A couple of weeks ago, I went to the Victoria & Albert Museum (http://www.vam.ac.uk/) here in London where they have many collections of historical clothing from throughout the world many non-western cultures were far more flamboyant in their male attire, particularly cultures from the Orient.
But now the suit has become the international masculine garb of politics, trade and commerce. Take one look at those staged photos of the leaders at the G8 or any other international gathering it's rare to see leaders in traditional and local dress.
My random thoughts, anyway.
