I added some facts about how much I paid in SSN, Medicare, Fed and State taxes (in the last 10 years that I have been here) as well as some detail about what I'm contributing (patent pending) to this country. My 485 application was received by USCIS at Nebraska Center on July 06, 2007 per the tracking receipt. My attorney received the receipts intrestingly from California service Center with receipt date July 06, 2007. I received a transfer notice from California Service Center dated Sept 12, 2007, with receipt date as Sept 04, 2007. Also the check was cashed on Sept 06, 2007.
Should I worry about the receipt date on the transfer notice?
Would this delay my processing of 485?
Please advice.

I was also asked to appear for FP in my attorney's location. Instead, I went to the nearest ASC with my spouse whose FP was in the correct location ahead of my date. I successfully got my FP done. There is a thread "FP in wrong city" where other people had similar issues.
From my experience, talking to lawyer, USCIS doesn't care as long as you get it done before the due date. Try the local ASC... its always the guard in front who may create an issue. Once you are in, fill in some forms, the ASC doesn't care where you were scheduled.
Imp: Try the local ASC before your scheduled date so that you have time for plan B.

Below are similar bills that were introduced last year (pulled from the opencongress webiste). These bills didnt go anywhere. They just ended as "referred to judiciary commitee" or "refered to subcomittee on immigration". How will this bill be different from these bills? I'm certain you cannot do that. While applying for H1B Visa, you can use experience in lieu of education, but while Perm/I140, they consider only 1 degree. Either its Masters or its Bachelors...even both of them are not considered as aggregates.
If your attorney is planning that way, he may not have handled such cases before... :eek:

1) Apply for I140
2) Have I-140 Approved
3) Apply for I-485 only if their priority date is current
4) Complete various I-485 tasks like fingerprinting, BACKGROUND CHECKS (this is a huge one and unless you are lucky you can get stranded for anywhere between 6 months to 3 years)
5) Now after completing 1 - 4 above you can expect that they will apply a visa number to the application

Your logic is beyond me. On one hand you seem to disagree with the practice of labor substitution but on the other hand you are more than happy to provide the recipe for it. Are you for it or against it. Or may be you are just trying to help an IV member.
It may be legal but should be discouraged to say the least.
I dont like that practise of labor substitution. Its unfair to everyone who cant do it, which is like 99.99 % of people. However, I am saying that its legal because it is. But by saying its legal, I am not saying that I am glad it happens.
If every one of labor petitions out there coming out of Dallas and Philly BECs are up for grabs then the priority dates will never move forward as newer employees keep getting ahead of those who are stuck.
The reason I am advising this guy is because I dont want him/her to get trapped at an employer where he is in a vulnerable position. I know this kind of employers very very well and they are inhumane (understatement). These are the guys who would make Jack Abramoff and Tom Delay look like ethical saints. You get the point. That is why I am saying that you need body armor when dealing with this kind of employer. That is why I would like this fellow to get his own immigration lawyer to handle everything so that HE/SHE has visibility and control, otherwise he/she is going to end up getting GC even after all of us have our GC after retrogression is over .

There are rumors that we will be around 5000 at the rally. Let's prove them wrong and bring at least 10,000 of our members.
