The last time I had surgery (January 2, 1986) I was knocked out via IV.
As for what it felt like...
They had put the IV in before I had gone into surgery, and it really wasn't that bad. When the doctor and his assistant showed up the anesthesiologist let me know that it was time.
He ask me to start counting backwards from 100. I felt a warm sensation moving up my arm from the IV and then into my chest. A moment later I felt like I was walking out of a fog... but I wasn't, I was lying in recovery... and I got sick.
It took a few minutes to finally become completely cognizant of my surroundings, but all and all it wasn't a bad experience. The time for the surgery was completely gone (as if it hadn't happened). It felt like (going from fully awake before the surgery back to fully awake again after) it had only taken a couple minutes (the surgery was about 4 hours as I recall).

It's still on, no matter what you try to spin it as. A review is a review. This is the same as when an appeals court decides to hear a case, they haven't overturned anything until they've overturned something. But they can't overturn something without first REVIEWing it. ;)
Yes. I agree. But, again, the idea that this is somehow akin to apple losing something is overblown. The review % is very high. The overturn % is very low. Things are progressing exactly as expected. I'm not trying to spin anything - the truth of the matter is that every finder-of-fact that has ruled on anything so far has ruled in Apple's favor.

I thought it was revolutionary - the idea that you always start with a template and never with a blank document. I thought - wow, all these years and Microsoft didn't come up with this?
But after trying to use it, it was non-intuitive and I gave up after about 10 minutes.
Word does actually start with a template rather than a blank document. Its name is normal.dot and you can change it anyway you like (put some formatting, text, headers and footers on it ...) and save it. Its a template like any other Word template you can create or use.

Imagine you move to a country where nobody talks to white people. White people are totally ignored, irrespective of anything. Naturally then, if you employed a white person to work in a shop they'd do an awful job because they wouldn't be able to serve any of the racist clientele.
You're saying "they'd do an awful job," when in reality there's no way to judge how well they were able to perform because they were never given a chance to demonstrate their capabilities.
So let's reword your sentence to be more accurate ...

Sounds good. If I crash my machine on the way, I'll have this to take care of it. In my opinion, OS's should come on DVD until the time, you can reinstall them from any kind of crashing by booting in as root in the safe mode.

We have and will continue to have universal healthcare. We have and will continue to have a pension system and hopefully the conservatives can patch it up so that it will there for me when I retire as a supplement/backup for my RRSPs.
You go on and believe that if you want. You have no idea the damage conservatives can and will do, but you're about to find out. Get out the lube, you're gonna need it.

I got the new facebook update for bug fixes on syncing but not for the fact that I can't hear when I get a notification... I got no sound...

Nothing is being polluted. When you walk by an area your information isn't still there an hour later.
Additionally, the VAST MAJORITY of RFID devices are PASSIVE, meaning they don't actively transmit ANY information but must be activated by a nearby reader to even be capable of being read.
Think of it like as if you were just walking down the street. You know your name, but you're not telling anyone. The only way anyone can get that info is if they ask you your name (granted in this scenario you MUST tell them if asked) but you're not just repeating it aloud ALL THE TIME.
Do you also consider it information pollution when every time ANYONE (including yourself) speak? O_o
All tin-foil hats and irrational fears of 'big brother' are unnecessary, and a waste of your valuable time. ;-)

From the talks I've had with people from the Apple Professional Services group Apple feels that real world use of OS X server is very limited. Most of their work is integrating Active Directory with Open Directory. They see most of their customers using OS X Server as the authentication, group policy, and file servers for the mac units in their customer's businesses.
I would have to agree with that assessment. It's pretty much the task I am trying to set up at the university I work in . . . . if they would only give me the resources to do so.
I don't think there's too much heavy lifting and heavy customization going on with OSX Server in the SoHo, SMB, and enterprise sector.

I don't think the Apple ads are elitist or snobish, however I do think the HP ads are very cool. By showing what the computer can do in a slick, sci-fiction way, the ads sell the HP computer in a way that the Mac vs. PC ads don't
If Apple's seeing increasing market-share it because they're finally trying to sell the computer and it's this ad presence that is working. The commercials' content doesn't really work, but only die-hard geeks can really get fired up for these commercials.
For Joe Sixpack, the commercials remind him that Mac exist, they're cool and they do neat stuff. And that's the good part.
The bad part is some people think they're being insulted, and some of those people will matter when it's time to buy a computer.
Apple should've gone the HP way, show how cool the computer is and stop mentioning the PC at all.
However, during WWDC, take a shovel to Microsoft is so inclined, that's a time to stir the troops into a fury.

Their performance on the economy has been pretty good so far (even though prior to the recession they opposed the very banking regulations that kept Canada in decent shape coming out of the crisis). At the moment the economy seems to be the #1 priority for most people, and I guess a change in government in the middle of a recovery was not what people wanted.
The conservatives campaigned on "we didn't want an election, we were in the middle of fixing the economy when the other parties decided to call an election, all we ask is for a majority government so that we can go back to work and fix the economy without these distractions". I think that resonated with a lot of people.

I can't download it, the "Download Mac Client" is just gray. Is it becaus i live in Europe?
Only the US client went live last week
the EU one was delayed for extra testing on the servers.
official dude on the blizzard forums said they hoped to release the EU client last night - but in the end he came back and said it would probably be today (Tuesday) instead.
But, seeing as they work West Coast USA time, that might mean it's unlikely to become available to us until the middle of the night tonight
i tried the pc client under boot camp - looked great, was a real buzz to playing the old game again with such nice graphics
Only the US client went live last week
