Online application usually warrants a fingerprinting , it's best to apply in paper if that needs to be avoided.

After a lots of effort I got chance to meet the great man J.B. Wow he was very nice. I told hime everything and showed the FedEx print out which he signed for the 485 delivery.
He appologised several times and went inside to the mail room after 40 minutes he came with a +'ve result with another appologies for his mistake. He told that the some of the packages are piled under the desk (hiding for the eyes) and he coudn't move the packages to clearks room. He moved a bunch of fedEx package to the clearks room, and took mine seperate from the bunch and put a note to the cleark saying his mistakes.
I thanked him and went to hotel room, after couple of hours I got call from MR.J.B and gave the receipt # for my whole family. I thanked him for the courtosy and afternnon I again I went to meet J.B and thanked again and tiped around $ 100, suddenly he started yelling at me...oh man..this was my fault, and u tiping for Nonsence....I got panicked and start sweating....

One of the things I have heard explicitly from folks in India is: Come here first, then apply. They are typically unsure of folks who want to return until they actually do it. Leaving the US is not easy. From thought to action is difficult :-)

If I were you I would keep the AP also in hand, just in case, you know to be on the safe side. we spend so much money in this freakin GC journey, may be AP is worth it, cos, you dont want issues after spending 24 hours of travelling of facing this crap in the POE.

What else do you want Bro. Give 30 days time to USCIS to send your card. we, most of us, would me more satisfied just to see the magical words - Current Status: Card production ordered in our case status.
Regarding holding card in physically, have to wait some time. Which should not be more taxing than waiting to see the magical words.
I started calling my friends the same night that I got GC, but back in my mind I was still not sure and thought "whatif USCIS made a mistake" and thought may be I should wait until I get the card.
I have spent coupla nights searching forums what kind of email people get when GC approved. I found most get Approval Email and Card production. I got only one email. I am still not able to believe I got GC. It was like a distant dream few weeks ago.

We recd. our 485 approval last week and recd. the cards in the mail earlier this week. We were interviewed at the local USCIS for our 485's, 2 weeks ago. It went really smooth and case was approved the same day as the interview.
I would like to whole-heartedly thank IV core and all IV members. This site has been an amazing resource of information & support for us thru our journey. My H1B expired in April 2008. My company is not willing to extend H1B any more due to the reason that I got EAD and I-140 approved and pending 485. Is it possible to get H1B extension from current or future company based on approved I-140? Or Is it too late?
You might wondering why do I need H1B now. I am not sure why I need H1B. Some of my friends who had trouble in their I-140/485 were able to survive with H1B. So, it looks like it is better to have dual. H1B and EAD.
Please advise.
You are eligible for H1 extension, though you may need visa stamp and re-entry to be back in H1 status. In such cases, one gets H1 extension approval without new I-94. That's why person needs to get new stamp and re-entry.

The future appears bleak and depressing considering the recent FOIA numbers which put EB3 GC wait times at approximately 8-10 years. Is there no hope at all? :(
There is no hope at all especially when our priorities are so misplaced. Just see how many members even post to any meaningful thread and whenever there is any meanigful thread people are out there to make every effort to derail it using cheap tactics.

How long has it been that you filed for I-140 ? Has it been approved yet.
I think you can move on to another company only after the I-140 has been approved and it has been more than 180 days . USCIS mails the approval notice to the company/attonery who filed on your behalf.

In 2001, Congress passed a bill called American Competitiveness for 21st Century. This bill recaptured all unused/wasted green cards between 1992 to 2000. These recaptured green card numbers were suppose to be applied for EB by distributing them from 2001 to 2005. As the result starting 2001 you see higher than 140K green cards numbers allocated. However, those additional green cards which were suppose to be applied starting 2001 were wasted, in addition to the green card numbers in 2006 and 2007. Also, my understanding of the law is that if in an year, green number is not utilized in FB, in the last quarter of the year that green card visa number could flow to EB . Likewise, if a green card number is not utilized in EB, in the last quarter the unused green card could flow to FB.
I read on this forum that starting 2001 (after the unused visa numbers were captured the last time) the total of these unused/wasted green card numbers from EB + FB is around 316K. Hope this clarifies your question.
But don't count on any new law to recapture green card visas outside of CIR. It is not going to happen. IV core team said that the administration, and both Republican and Democratic lawmakers are opposed to do anything outside of CIR.
Here is today's news in Politico indicating the same thing -

Looking at table 6 (Persons Obtaining Legal Permanent Resident Status by Type and Major Class of Admission: Fiscal Years 2000 to 2009), we get the following data on EB and FB issuances.

I was just thinking from the view of the people who are opposing have argument that, new American Jobs will be taken away. In my first post, I have written that we have not thought of or do not want to think about dropping FB Visa recapture. But it was just a proposal that we can tell those people that no American job will be lost. I am not against Family based immigration or any kind of immigration. This idea was just put forward for those Groups who oppose immigration due to fear of taking away new American jobs.
PLEASE CLOSE THIS THREAD.
Family based visas has a lot of support from the citizens who are actually voting in the elections, no wonder politicians like it. No matter what you say, anti-immigrants will always twist the truth and spread the news that all these visas are new and will take away American jobs. Has anyone done a FOIA before for an I-140 receipt notice? Where do I file? Does it in anyway makes USCIS reveiw my case more than it should?
