Recently I had a very bad experience with CGI Houston. The CGI Houston is one of the horrible consulate that any one can imagine. I applied PIO card for my new born. I forgot to send the birth certificate with the application. They rejected the application and sent all my documents to my friends home address who was also applied PIO card for his child. Surprisingly he got one more guy�s (he is from another state) PIO card application and documents in the same package. I was lucky enough that it reached my friends hand. Otherwise I could not imagine what would have happened to my application and also the Certified Check.
I don�t know the consulate want to save courier money or they are irresponsible?

Sorry there was a typo in the application mailed in date it is 8/7/2007 and notice date is 9/26/2007.
as per the info u provided u'r...... mail dt is 8/17/07 & receipt dt is 9/26/07...... did u'r application reach cis after july visa bulletin..... if yes, then it appears that with u'r april-06 dt. the priority dt was not current when they received u'r app .... is that a possibility.....

If you are a software engineer and street smart then you don�t need PMP to continue growing in your field. I am a software engineer and my understanding is as follows. Currently most of us are working under a manager who is either not good at management or not having the required level of technical skills to understand the project complexities for doing proper project management. As the salaries in the software field are good most of the people moved to software field irrespective of what their core skills are. So, people who are good at project management and working as software engineers should do PMP to rejuvenate their skills and bring some good project managers to the software industry.
Even if you are not good at project management, you should do PMP to understand the environment you are working. That is especially to keep yourself in the shoes of your manager. The advantage of doing that is, if your manager is blaming you for his mistakes, you will know what to talk with your manager and avoid yourself burning out because of your manager mistakes. This is something that is very common in the software industry. It doesn�t matter where you are and what you are doing, it is always helpful to know role of a project manager to keep yourself in a better position.
Also PMP is not just $500 thing. I can say you should be ready to spend at least $700 and allocate lot of time (It takes lot of time if you are parallel working) to understand PMBOK and its related material.
Also to keep your certification active, you should get 60 PDU every 3years, but this is not a big deal.
To keep yourself motivated till you get the certification, keep this in mind. �Most of the best paid people are the best managers� you cannot make that kind of money unless you start you journey towards that direction.
PMP can be considered as one of the subjects (in detail) in MBA (like a subset of MBA), and should not be compared with MBA, as MBA will provide you with more skills in more directions in handling business.

"This loss of visas is due to: (1) gaps in USCIS� accounting of cases; (2) USCIS not processing enough pending applications in a timely manner; and (3) the imprecise art of predicting workflows and demand surges at three federal agencies: Department of Labor (DOL) (approves labor certifications); USCIS (processes immigration petitions after completion of labor certifications and processes green card applications for applicants in the United States); and DOS (establishes priority dates and processes immigrant visas from applicants outside the United States). There will be severe consequences from rapid fluctuations in priority dates. If the priority date became current today, due to delayed USCIS processing and thus underutilization of visa numbers, some have predicted that within a few months as many as 500,000 to 750,000 individuals now residing in the United States under a temporary worker visa could apply for a green card. Additionally, DOL�s recent backlog elimination efforts, scheduled to be completed by September 30, 2007, are predicted to add 70,000 or more approved labor certifications yielding as many as 170,000 additional green card applications. I hate to see you leaving, you need to fight for others. Who knows somebody close to you might get stuck in this mess. IF everybody leave just because they got what they need than its not fair. If you think IV has helped you in any way then each of us put some effort to help IV and its members.

ramus, follow my posts in the past 20 days and you will see i have posted many posts for this AP expedite. I have a travel coming up shortly and I had only exactly 90 days from the date of application and date of travel. My application was approved recently along with my spouse. There is even a post where I listed out all the steps I took to expedite and finally finally only the local congressman phone to USCIS helped. its just unbelievable, but its possible. I have tickets that even if you postpone the journey I will lose money. I said to myself enough we lose with USCIS, and so decided to take all and any steps to expedite and get it done. just follow my posts (like start reading my past 20 posts) and I am sure you will find it useful. If you need more help, please PM me, and I will be more than happy to help you with any questions that you have. All the best.
