I accidentally just went on BBC News... spoilt one surprise for myself :(

Yeah, i don't think the internet is a safe place until after weve seen the QT vid ourselves.

Meanwhile, the whole world is going nuts about a 300Gb iPod with built in Sat-Nav and Intel Quad-Core processors and we're sitting here nervously going at the alcohol, refusing to be tempted.

    I love every minute :D

    MA.

Oh, and in reply to the guy who is going to give up at 8, please don't put spoilers on here if you do take a look. That would not make me happy after all this waiting! :)

Thank God (or should I say Demi-god :) ) that you closed this post down earlier. I promise to not try and engage the Brit or the Irishman in a conversation ever again!

Wait a minute! I was drunk when I wrote my posts - what's your excuse! May I refer you to the following section of the MacRumors 'rules for appropriate debate'.

Insults. Slurs and insults against groups of people based on negative-stereotyping and obvious generalizations fall into the category of trolling and will be treated as such.

The Brit and the Irishman?!?  Bigot! (look it up)

PS - I'm only kidding, go have a sit down.

    Have a nice day.

I believe this might LITERALLY be the first time I've ever read something from Lee, been impressed with it's depth, and not been saddened by the complete opacity of his partisan blinders.

Very well said, sir. I agree, 100%

A real piece of work. You have to insult even when you agree with someone. Were it me, I'd seek help.

If GM had listed the Volt for a good price they'd have a major hit on their hands. This way, it's just gonna die quietly, and then they'll complain about the world not being ready for hybrids.

I doubt GM could have made the Volt much cheaper. Hybrids are as yet nowhere near as cheap as regular autos, and never will be, since they are inherently more complex. I hybrid requires between 1 and 4 electric motors plus the internal combustion engine. It requires both a fuel tank and a battery pack. It also requires a transmission that connects the electric motors to the wheels as well as the internal combustion engine (except in series hybrids of course). A regular ol' gas or diesel engined car needs only engine, transmission and fuel tank.

Your point? Do you deny General Lee surrendered on this date in 1865?

This was an important victory for the US.

Actually it looks like you are being sarcastic. LOL

Technically the Confederacy wasn't defeated until a month later, and even then forces still fought because of how slow news traveled :p, but yea, Lee's surrender was basically the end.

some android phones already come with wifi tether built in and you could disable the data charge on vzw phones. the good people at xda will find ways for the rest of the phones as well.. so this isn't really a big deal

I'm sure I'm going to get flamed, but to be honest, I'm more excited about what win8 will have to offer then 10.7.

The reason is Microsoft has been adding more features to windows, then apple has to OSX.

Given the anemic features that 10.7, windows 8 could be the version that I see using more then OSX. I'm splitting my time 50/50 right now.

My experience with iAds has been good, you sometimes see interesting stuff. But what I like about them most is that somehow they don't seem intrusive or annoying. They're just a a record in tableview that we can just easily flick pass.

Normal ads on website stick on the banner or sidebar if you don't have any adblock plugins installed, and that makes those so annoying.

How could Apple keep production of an LTE iPhone so completely quiet when a release is pending in two weeks? We would have heard something in the supply chain before this.

This supposed source also says that Apple may be financing some of the carrier's LTE buildouts -- if Apple were doing that they would be asking for exclusive use of those LTE networks for a period. It would also set a terrible precedent.

Also, I don't imagine that AT&T & Apple signed a contract that had exclusivity expiring on December 26, 2010. It would make far more sense for a contract to be written that extends through the end of though some have even speculated it extends through 2012 (heaven help us and Apple if that's the case).

Nothing in this article from MacDailyNews seems close to the truth.

EDIT: In other news, rumor has it that Apple and NASA are launching a series of iPhone satellites on December 26th that will support the iPhone-SAT which will have 100MBps speeds with worldwide coverage using a series of Apple-owned satellites and taking the carrier completely out of the equation. There will be no more carrier exclusivity, because there will be no carrier. Apple will sell the phone for $700 unlocked with no monthly service charge, but will require you purchase an annual subscription to MobileMe for $99 for service.

I'd buy that... If it were true, it would be legit.

He probably did pocket the cash, since he asked if everything was cool when he handed me the bag, that def ran through my mind a few times.

Sure he did. That's why he had the system print a receipt. To cover his tracks.

I hope that this movie store will be as successful as the music store; I wouldn't want Apple to be in trouble.

It just seems as though they are going to have to provide a large amount of bandwidth, and I'm not so sure how easy this will be on today's technology.

oh really? thats frustrating!! what soft of temps do they sit at? are you sure you have cranked enough voltage into them?

the temps haven't been that high (70C or under). i have changed the voltages, but maybe not enough. that's one of those things you have to play with.

but it looks like 2 of my rigs are down now. i might be driving back to fix them tomorrow night i guess. i'll put both of them back to 3.5 ghz and hopefully they'll stay stable.

my asus has been rock solid compared to the other 2 though. staying at 3.5-3.6 ghz

I think the "hilarious" part must have slipped me by.

not me. the video was sooo hilarious. CES = the most prominent electronics show in the world with the MOST HIGH TECH tech you can find. and they allow for a 14.99 POS hack to ruin almost every booth.

HILARIOUS. i actually laughed out loud almost the whole video. childish yes. hilarious yes.

eye opening? yes. next year you can imagine there will be a few more companies that disable IR ports in public displays.

should gizmodo be allowed at macworld? YES. you think apple is stupid enough to allow something like that to happen? no.

as for gizmodo coming clean. i think that's fine. it was so funny. plus i'm sure not everyone endorsed the prank. it was probably a few people and then they made a blog post.

quit complaining. people are twisting their panties over nothing.

retorts: blah blah blah... presentation. blah blah blah.

It would be great if the price went down. There should also be some updates, but concentrating on a lower price, as PCs that are the same speed are much less.

The default M4A bit rate used by iTunes is a joke. You have to be 80 years old not to notice the huge difference between a CD and a standard iTunes M4A track.

I'm sorry but most people (I'd say 99.9%) can't hear the difference between a CD and a 128kbps AAC file.

Heck, we got people still using 128kbps MP3 for crying out loud. If they heard any difference (or if it really sounded like crap) we'd see them using 256kbps MP3 instead. Granted, the encoder makes a huge difference, but most files you see on P2P networks are 128kbps.

    Wow.... X years already!!

Well done Steve by saving  Computer by evolving NeXTSTEP via Rhapsody and Mac OS X Server 1.x into Mac OS X!!

    Some memories:

    - Steve showing the OS strategy roadmap: Mac OS 8 / 9 vs. Mac OS X
    - "Rhapsody" evolving into Mac OS X DP1
    - Mac OS X DP3 incl. Aqua interface
    - Mac OS X Public Beta "Kodiak"
    - Mac OS X 10.0 "Cheetah"... I got the original CD (yes.. CD..) in Paris, France.
    - Mac OS X 10.1 "Puma" and Office v. X
    - Mac OS X 10.2 "Jaguar" and Photoshop 7
    - Mac OS X 10.3 "Panther" largely regarded as the first real 100% usable version of OS X (not in the least because of app development)
    - Mac OS X 10.4.1 "Tiger" Intel Developer Preview
    - Mac OS X 10.5 "Leopard" Universal stuff
    - Mac OS X 10.6.6 "Snow Leopard" and Mac App Store
    - Mac OS X 10.7 "Lion" and optional Server Install

    I <3  and Mac OS X

I like how you speak for the masses, "something WE wanted". I for one was thrilled with the keynote and I am going to buy the iPhone. Just because you were not happy with the keynote, it does not mean the Keynote was horrible. I would have liked some updates on ilife and leopard too, but they will come soon enough.
