Just called the Emeryville Apple store, and asked them if I could camp out there. They said they don't care but that I should check with Bay Street security. They gave me the number. The lady I talked to said that no camping is allowed on the sidewalk or street and police will be out that night. The time people can start lining up is at 7am. I called the Apple store on Powell in San Francisco and they said it no problem, no one ever gets bothered. Guess thats where I will be!
Brrr. Powell's collllld. Stay warm out there if you go.

I now use WordPress for my site, after trying to get used to Joomla, CMS Made Simple, Silver Stripe, and a few home brew solutions. WordPress as a CMS is great for very simple stuff, but the more complex you get, the less suitable it becomes. There are plugins that extend its functionality in all kinds of ways, but it begins to feel like a Rube Goldberg machine if you are trying to get to something very specific by throwing two or three plugins together.
Having said that, the site I maintain is fairly simple and needs to be administer-able (is that a word?) by people with limited IT knowledge, so WordPress fits the bill.

GodFather has been getting ok reviews but is basically the PS2 game with a bit of waggle
Cooking Mama - has been getting 'AWFUL' reviews
Blazing Angels - has sucked the ass on all formats - wii is meant to be no different.
Godfather: Blackhand Edition (the wii version) is really neat... lots of stuff to do, lots of destruction and mayhem... and the wiimote integration is were the game really shines... i never played the original version, but as i understand it, there hass been a good amount added compared to the oringinal xbox version... not to mention over 25 wiimote gestures for executing and intimidating people...

Do any of you guys know any programs for the mac that could tell me my CPU speed? Or if not, what is the typical temperature that the CPU throttles itself? Thanks!

^This guy has no idea what he's talking about. I've purchased two new batteries for my hp laptop and everytime I've installed Windows 7, I then get an error saying I need to replace my battery and then when I go back on Vista it gives me only like 30 minutes of battery life. So yes Windows 7 does kill batteries and I've noticed I only get an hour with Windows 7 on my mbp 2011 and that's with brightness lowered and typing on here/sitting there doing nothing. I installed Windows 7 only because I need to use Microsoft 2007 for my class, but other than that I will not be using it.
P.S. It's because Windows 7 uses a lot of power just to run, so it overheats causing your battery to overheat and die.

Hello all,
Unfortunately, I don't really have any programming language knowledge. I get by with HTML and CSS but that's about it.
For a project I have, I'd like to create a simple HTML form where a user can select options and/or enter text into fields.
I'd then like the data to be inputted into a database which would allow me to export it and view it.
Is this what MySQL is for? What would be the easiest way to go about this?
What good books/guides would you recommend?
I could actually do what I want offline (as in create a form in a word processor) but am interested in seeing what online options are available?
I realise that if I do this online, I will need to host it somewhere, so if anyone can recommend a free host (ideally offering subdomains on their URL or theirdomain.com/mysite so that I don't have to buy a domain), it would be most appreciated.
I'd also need the access to be password protected.
The concept isn't yet 100% clear in my mind, so any suggestions or advice are welcome.
Thanks,

What if Apple is launching something like its own nationwide wireless network (wifi, not cell), ties into .mac, iphone, itouch etc? Possibly the technology is easily rolled to other countries and that is part of the reason why the foreign press has been invited.
Pure speculation on my part. I have no "inside sources" or a deep throat.
Does Apple own a nationwide wireless network? Im confused.
Just kidding.
And .mac is still partially broken for Leopard. Hopefully they will announce another .mac upgrade at Macworld.

Eh, if nobody likes it at least we had fun trying to tape it like 50 times.
I'll be posting bloopers that happened during recording probably tomorrow seeing as we have another snow day in 60*weather :D.
I promised the bloopers and I just imported em all off the camera, it took us 15 times according to the clips in iMovie to get it right.
Here they are:

I don't know if this is occurring here, but in many other instances of touting/scalping, people deliberately sabotage the auctions by putting in high fake bids - it's possible the highest of those isn't a genuine offer.

the first versions will have tons of bugs, dont u want a stable OS when u first get your iMac? thought so. :)
Lion will come with a ton of bugs just like leopard and snow leopard did, sure apple will fix most bugs in time usually in the first 2 weeks of release but still. it'll be a buggy experience at first.

I just bought a new MacBook Air Ultimate, and it seems to wobble a bit. The wobbling seems to occur when the lid is fully up because the front left foot pad does not make any contact with the surface of my glass desk. What can I do about this wobble? Is it a problem with the foot pad or the entire body?
Can the guys at the Genius Bar fix this, or should I exchange it?
Thanks.
You can exchange it. Just tell them your not happy

AP says no. :D
Again, proving my ignorance...
"AP" is what? "Associated Press"? Or, I mean, "Associated Press?"
No, I don't - that looks like I'm using "Associated Press?" as a phrase.
I'm so confused. I think I'll just speak my posts from now on and supply the link to the audio file.
No, wait, I'll have to record them with my iSight... otherwise, I'll not be able to do the "air quotes". "Air quotes." Dammit....

This will have absolutely no effect on SSDs (http://cseweb.ucsd.edu/users/swanson/papers/Fast2011SecErase.pdf) beyond simply wearing them out. A single pass is more than adequate.
awesome techy article yet 2 questions:
why would an SSD/Flash Drive wear out within the life of the machine?
(even with heavy 'normal' use)
if it indeed did, then what's AppleCare for?
if you can't get 3 years out of a storage device running Mac OSX - even erasing and reinstalling the :apple: OS once a week - then something's amiss.

I know Quark 6 is a horrible clunky nightmare but this is weird.
There's not the slightest chance you've been working on a different document? I've occasionally done it before...
What back-up software are you using? Most programs will alert you if a file of the same name has an earlier modification date...
What file info did you 'play around with'?

China is becoming the new America: they have all these weird exclusive standards that are different from the rest of the world. If I lived there I'd be constantly using Witopia VPN on my wireless hotspot at home.
Mc Carthy would have drooled to Chinese Government paranoia. but we are not like them for now at least..

I think you're all a bit confused about this piece of news. Localization is nothing new. There are already plenty of localized apps in the store.
What's new is that Apple is adding support for these six new languages in addition to the ones already supported.
Therefore, overall impact on the store and relevant procedures is, at best, minimal.
